Service team oversees the requests and appeals for special projects that benefit charitable needs of the community, the congregation and the church at large.
This team can be summarized by Acts 20:35, "In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive''".
The Windsor Park Food Pantry has partnered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository for many years. The partnership has been a reliable food source for many individuals on the South side of Chicago for more than 50 years. Over time, we have seen many grocery stores and affordable food options leave the community resulting in food deserts in predominately black and brown communities. Since March of 2020, our food pantry has seen an increased utilization of services by approximately 50% (from 350 to 650) of household members who come to receive food items and other assistance monthly.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our clients have been most affected by the loss of employment and decreased ability to provide basic human needs such as food, shelter, health care and other living necessities. This has resulted in an extremely high level of stress and mental health concerns for many individuals within our community.
The community wellness program is geared toward community health and education. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this program has increased emphasis of community education, COVID testing and providing vaccines to underserved community.
Please consider any size donation to assist with our community programs. Windsor Park Lutheran church is a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions are tax deductible.
